Hi, so where we live, plastic bottles and hard plastic packaging goes in recycling sack and not the regular bin so we don't put them in the Titan. However, if we did, I would not be satisfied with the level of compaction it provides for that purpose. It is really much better at compacting softer rubbish. We actually stopped using the compaction function as much as we initially used it once the novelty wore off. We now mostly use it to compact the rubbish right before we remove it from the bin on rubbish day as it makes it easier to tie the sack. So if you are looking for something specifically for compacting plastic bottles I wouldn't recommend the Titan.

We seem to get a LOT of plastic bottles & containers, some requiring a heavy stomp (90 kg of Tom) to flatten. The wife is not very powerful, so does the "compacting" provide leverage or increased force? How often do you find yourself using the "compacting" function relative to normal disposals?

In reply to <a href="https://www.thedesignsheppard.com/reviews/review-titan-compactor-bin-joseph-joseph#comment-459645">Peter</a>.

Hi Peter sorry you didn't find the review all that useful. I shared my experience with the bin at the time. But I am more than happy to answer questions or concerns other people have. When using the bin bags designed for the compactor bin they are relatively easy to remove. Not quite as easy as a regular bin mind. If you decide to use bog standard black bin bags then they are a lot more tricky to remove. Especially if you buy the cheaper thinner black bags. Then they tend to rip when you remove them.
Overall, the process of removing bags is more difficult than a regular bin, but it does hold more rubbish. So I guess you have to weigh up what you are willing to compromise on and that is a personal choice.

This wasn't all that useful as it just reads like a paid review. You just regurgitate all the facts you can find on their website in a more marketed way.

I'm not sure if I can trust the answer, but how easy is it to remove the bags compared to normal?

I have found that you definitely need to use heavy duty bags with this bin. Opting for the cheaper, thinner ones is a bad idea!

Yes I think you probably do. I did try to use left over bags from my Brabantia bin but they didn't fit at all. You could try generic ones but not sure they would withstand the compression.
